Second Practice 17/02/11

Practice 2
Density

The mass density or density of a material is defined as its mass per unit volume.The symbol most often used for density is ρ. density is also defined as its weight per unit volume; although, this quantity is more properly called specific weight. Different materials usually have different densities

Objective: obtain the density of different substances using only 10ml of each one
Material:
·         Water
·         Lechera
·         Oil
·         Test tube
Procedure:
1.       Put the test tube in the balance to obtain its mass
2.       Pour in each test tube 10ml of each substance
3.       Put again the test tube in the balance to obtain its mass now that it has the substance
4.       Then substract the mass of the test tube to the obtained mass of the test tube with a substance
5.       Now with the mass and the volume, apply density formule (p=m/v) and calculate the density of each substance
Results:
·         Water
m= 10g
v= 10ml = 10cm3
ρ= 1g/cm3
·         Oil
m= 9g
v= 10ml = 10cm3
ρ= 0.9g/cm3

·         Lechera
m= 14.9 g
v=10ml = 10cm3
ρ=1.47g/cm3

1 comentario:

  1. this practice is almost right you need to talk about density at the beginning and show a pictures of the materials (condensed milk)
